Game of the Year edition of Dead Island includes bonus weapons and missions to complement the game’s gory, RPG-like gameplay
Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition
It begins at the idyllic Royal Palms Resort on the tropical island of …, where a zombie apocalypse has turned the visiting tourists and hardened locals into blood-splattered denizens of the undead. As you search for an escape, you’ll assist other survivors, search for a cure, and encounter a diverse range of zombies that spray you with gore at every opportunity.
You play as one of four survivors, each of whom must hack and slash their way through the shambling horde in this first-person, melee-intensive survival horror game. Earn experience points that you can use to level up and glean new abilities, and collect disparate items to customize new weapons from tools like baseball bats and battle axes.
Luxurious resort bungalows give way to decaying villages and dank sewers as you explore Banoi’s vast open world, which you can traverse on foot or in a car. Zombies climb from windows, burst through doors, and grasp at you from every corner.
The four-player co-op mode lets you drop in and out of the games of friends and strangers, who can assist you in the mass slaughter of the undead.
Game of the Year Edition
Only the year’s most groundbreaking games are bestowed a Game of the Year edition package, and Dead Island’s comes with additional mods and the Bloodbath Arena, where you can take on hordes of zombies and score oodles of experience points. Also included is the Ryder White Campaign, a brand-new mission that features roughly three hours of gory gameplay.
