Is power delivered to the cameras from the 65 foot cable or do they need a power outlet near the camera?

A:

There is a power supply that is required for the cameras, this adapter is connected to a splitter that supplies power for 4 cameras.

Q:

Does each camera have to be plugged in separately? Do I need an outlet by each camera? Or do they all plug into the DVR and get power from that?

A:

The camera connections all run back to the DVR, there is a power supply that is required for the cameras this adapter is connected to a splitter that supplies power for 4 cameras.

Can u use other security cameras of any brand and wireless? Also, can it be used with home alarm system?

Other cameras can be used with the system, you would want to make sure that before purchasing any other cameras they are compatible with the connections on this system. The system can be linked into your home alarm system.

These systems are all designed by the manufacturer to be DIY (Do-It-Yourself). However; you can hire a local security system installer in your area that would be able to assist you if needed.

What does channel mean? What is the difference between 4 and 8 channels?

A:

Channels indicate the number of available outlets for the cameras, Ex: a 4 channel system can hold up to 4 cameras, and 8 channel system can hold up to 8 cameras; systems can also operate with less cameras than the number of channels they have available.

The four channel option would only be able to provide four channels. The eight channel could be used for less.

Is this wireless? How far can the cameras be from each other?

A:

This is not wireless. Each camera comes with a 6 foot cord and 65 feet of extension wire. Additional extension wires can be added and are available through the manufacturer if required.
