All I had to do was pull it out of the box and sit it in front of the doorway, it's long enough that I can sit it at an angle instead of straight across. That way, it doesn't really have to be attached in order to stay standing. The person gate is very convenient and the pet gate is the perfect size for my schnauzers. Not to mention how nice it looks.

So glad I purchased this gate. Very attractive with easy to open large door and a great small door for little dogs. Sturdy and strong - receiving compliments on it already.
