Q:

The ad says this is an ultrasonic toothbrush but states the brush head vibrates at 30,000 strokes per minute. If this is correct, then it is not ultrasonic as by definition it would be emitting ultrasonic waves at greater than 20,000 vibrations per SECOND. Can you clarify, is this true ultrasound?

Sorry for the confusion! There is more than one definition of ultrasonic. The definition applied to all ultrasonic toothbrushes, including Sonicare that also is 30,000ppm, is not referring to the sound definition as used in sonography. Ultrasonic can also be used to mean ultra fast aka super fast!! supersonic!
