Q:

How often can you use this product? Do you have to shave between uses? Thanks, Nancy

Nancy T.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Nancy! You should schedule your treatments in two week intervals. Typically you will see results after the 3rd or 4th treatment - after this you can start treating monthly to maintain the desired results. You can shave in between Silk'n SensEpil treatments. No other hair removal method should be used (i.e. waxing, etc.) with Silk'n as they will extract the follicle and leave no target for future Silk'n treatments. Before using Silk'n you will need to first shave clean the area to be treated down to the skin level.

Q:

I have 3 children, a 24 year old, a 22 year old, and a 16 year old. They would all benefit from this product, but I can only afford one. Would it be safe (sanitary) for all 3 to use the same device?

Deleen C.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Deleen! If you want to share the Silk’n device, the best recommendation is to have each person have their own cartridge that is removed when the other person is using the device. If you need to use the same cartridge, simply wipe clean the cartridge with a soft cloth or q-tip with a small amount of alcohol or non-abrasive disinfectant before sharing the cartridge. Enjoy the device and getting friends and family to know about the Silk’n.

Q:

I have EXTREMELY dark, coarse thick hair on my legs. It's to the point that I really could shave twice a day to keep my legs smooth. My skin is also very pale. Will it still be effective as quickly as you state, or is it likely that it will take longer. I've had my legs waxed twice, and the girl who does it says the hair on my legs is the most stubborn she's ever seen. :/

Paula B.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Paula, you are in luck! The Silk'n SensEpil hair removal device works best on dark hair and pale skin. Treatments work best on darker hair types, or hair that contains more melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives hair and skin its color, and will absorb light energy. Black and dark brown respond the best, and lighter brown hairs will also respond but typically require more treatments. Typically you will see results after the 3rd or 4th treatment - after this you can start treating monthly to maintain the desired results.

Q:

Is this painful?

Marie T.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Marie, thanks for asking! Silk'n SensEpil treatments are safe with minimal discomfort compared to waxing or professional laser treatments. Most users describe the feeling of using Silk'n SensEpil similar to an elastic band lightly touching the skin.

Q:

What model is this? I'm looking at the Silk'n SensEpil web site and I don't see this model listed.

Kimberly K.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

This item is the same as the All-Over Hair Removal Handheld Device from the Silk'n SensEpil website. The Silk’n devices provided in this deal are all made by Silk’n and are brand new. The Tangerine orange color being offered here is a special, limited-edition holiday color that is being offered for the first time and is not being sold on the official Silk’n site.

Q:

How do I choose the One 1500-pulse or two 750-pulse lamp cartridges option after purchase ?

Wiebke C.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Wiebke! Sorry for the confusion. You'll either get one 1500 pulse or two 750 pulse lamp cartridges with your order depending on availability. Either way, you'll still get the full 1500 pulses, each 750 pulse cartridge enables you to have one full face & body treatment, or multiple treatments of individual areas of the body. The cartridge(s) are a complimentary $45 value.

Q:

Does it work on blonde hair?

Kay H.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Treatments work best on darker hair types, or hair that contains more melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives hair and skin its color, and will absorb light energy. Black and dark brown respond the best, and lighter brown hairs will also respond but typically require more treatments. Red, white, grey or blonde hairs may respond after multiple treatments with Silk’n, as they don’t respond as well to treatments as the darker hair.

Q:

I would like to buy one but a different website site says Model SJ001 is not safe on naturally dark skin. Is the one you offer or is yours a different model number? If not, you may want to update your website.

Kimberly B.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Silk’n should not be used on naturally dark skin complexion or on recently tanned skin - in which case you wait 2 weeks after tanning to use Silk’n. Silk'n SensEpil comes with a built-in skin sensor that automatically detects if your skin color is appropriate for treatment, so the device will only turn on if your skin is in the allowable range and the treatment will begin with a flash of light. If your skin color is not appropriate, the device will not turn on. There is a chart of the skin tones that can be used and those that are not safe on the Silk’n SensEpil website.

Q:

can this product be used for the "Brazilian" area?

Sharon H.  asked on  Dec 11, 2012

A:

Hi Sharon! When it comes to using the Silk’n SensEpil on the bikini/genital/pubic area, you can follow the general rule of thumb that you can use the Silk'n device on any area on the body that has an external epidermis (skin layer). Any internal areas and mucosal tissue tends to be more vascular and thus may cause increased chance of adverse reactions. So as long as you are careful and treating external skin then you should be fine.
