I should have investigated the product better as I was actually looking for a recording camera. This product is only able to show what is happening while it happens.

This camera DOES require networking knowledge to install in order to have it available for remote access, motion alarm with cell notifications, etc. Don't listen to the negative reviews! The camera is mostly an easy setup. The other part of the setup is for your router. You'll need to set an http port to go through on the camera setup. I recommend something higher like 9080 not 8080. Then you'll have to open this port or "port forward" this port of 9080 on your router for the ip address of your cam. You'll have to also make sure your camera chooses a static ip which is in the camera setup. That way, the port will only be open for that ip on the router. Once your remote management is enabled on your router, you should be able to access your camera remotely with an address (e.g. 123.456.78.90:9080) The first part is your remote access address to the router, the 9080 is the port enabled only for the ip of the cam. You will not need to enter the camera's ip address remotely as it is tied to the port. This can also be configured to work with video, if you have software and storage configured to do so. Call the support number included with the camera. They'll walk you through the complexities of the set up. My only beef with the Cam is the quality of the image, but I love that it's so quiet while panning and how well the IR LEDs illuminate the dark. GREAT cam for the price!!!

This camera is a nicely built camera with very nice video image even though it's not HD. The problem I have with this system is the manual. If you are not an I.T. professional it's virtually impossible to get this up and running wirelessly. The manual is practically useless if you're not familiar with I.T. jargon. The best bet is to go on Youtube and look at the various video instructions for setting this up. But it still takes a while to comprehend. I finally got mine to work wirelessly but I'm still struggling trying to set it up so that I can use it away from home with my phone or work computer. I do plan to add more cameras to my network but i must first get this one up and running properly. I haven't tried calling the tech support line yet but I feel I shouldn't have to. Perhaps a DVD set up video included would be a good option for Foscam. All n all it seems to be a very good camera.

Having problems with it transmitting to telephone. It's not a very friendly system to install, much less get it to work (though instruction videos are available from the company online). Seems to be limited with what e-mail provider it works with sending alarms (can't get it to work w/G-mail). The image on the computer is really small, only takes up 1/4th of the screen. Pan and rotation seems to work fine and the hardware quality appears really good. Tech support takes about 30 min of wait time. I would be reluctant to recommend this to anyone.

I was initially impressed with this camera in it's ease of setup and function. I soon learned that remote viewing was impossible on my new Android phone due to the latest version of Android no longer supports Adobe Flash player. Why are these companies holding onto Flash Player? Returned camera since remote (away from my local network) viewing is impossible.

Very easy to set up and connect though if you want to view this from work you may have to talk to your firewall group to allow the port traffic used by this device. Overall I would recommend this device.
