The base is the shape I was looking for. As I suspected, the top is just ok. MDF is never going to look like wood. There is a groove running diagonally across the top that can't be seen in the picture. It's supposed to be decorative but only cheapens the look. The top is supposed to be fastened to the base by 4 screws; there were only 2 on my table. The shipping box was smashed in on one side. Uh oh. A corner of the table top was slightly smushed. And because MDF is a wood composite, it crumbles when it's damaged. Be advised: The measurements are misleading. The widest part of the metal base is 29 x 24"; the actual tabletop is only 21 x 16". There is good news. I can unscrew the top from the base (only 2 screws-hooray) and replace it with real wood. For $75, I couldn't buy the base, so I'll go with that.

With a metal base and legs that jut out from the side, this industrial-style side table is a clever addition to a modern decor scheme
