Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility gives kids a glimpse into the responsibility it takes to navigate adulthood, all framed by a consciousness of how their decisions impact the world. Players find themselves in an island town that once thrived under the watch of the mystical Mother Tree and Harvest Goddess. Now that their guardians have disappeared, the island inhabitants have lost their connection to nature, and they’re unsure how to heal the land. Kids assume either a boy or girl character and break ground on a farm. The Wii remote becomes an array of virtual farm tools, such as a sickle, hammer, and watering can. As players grow crops, befriend and raise animals, and nurture relationships—including marrying, having kids, and turning them into a world-famous family band—they gradually restore the Mother Tree and invite the Harvest Goddess to return.
