About Joseph Abboud

Joseph Abboud’s passion for fashion ignited at the tender age of 16, guiding the budding designer to jobs with Louis of Boston and Polo Ralph Lauren. Joseph Abboud set off on his own in 1987, when he launched his eponymous label and decked the fashion cognoscenti in clean, impeccably tailored menswear. Shortly after his debut, Abboud was accorded numerous honors, including the distinction of being the only designer to have received the coveted Menswear Designer of the Year twice in a row (1989 & 1990) from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Other awards and honors include The Cutty Sark Award for Most Promising Menswear Designer in 1988, as well as the first Woolmark Award for Distinguished Fashion in 1989. He received it again in March of 1993, proving that true excellence is achieved only through consistency.

Abboud joined Tailored Brands Inc. as its Chief Creative Director in December 2012, but he was soon reunited with his namesake brand when he acquired it the next year. That’s when Abboud re-launched his label, reestablishing the brand as a hyper-sophisticated modern-American lifestyle collection. Cufflinks, belts, shoes, and more accompany the fashion house’s signature suits, all of which can be found online and at the Joseph Abboud Flagship Store in New York City.
