Players befriend a zooful of animals such as lions, cheetahs, and tiger cubs, using voice commands and gestures recognized by the Kinect. Virtual pets will play dead, fetch, and stand up when they hear their owner's voice. The Kinect's motion sensor also lets players get hands-on, grooming and petting their cubs by making the appropriate gestures.

By completing challenges and finding hidden areas, players can unlock additional cubs and new environments to explore. Both cubs and the user's home environment can be customized, and a wealth of items can be collected in the in-game Toy Box and used to play.
