The Japanese Elm is native to Korea, China, and Japan. A very fast growing tree that forms a broad or upright vase~shaped silhoutte, 80~100 feet tall. The deciduous leaves stay dark green throughout the year, until fading to a beautiful yellow before they drop in the Fall. In the early Spring, before the new leaves unfold, small green flowers appear on the stalks. These blooms are followed by a green, wafer like seedpods which will mature soon after flowering is finished and the seeds a very popular with birds and other wildlife. The Japanese Elm has an extensive, yet shallow root system, which make's it perfect for bonsai cultivation.

To help germination, soak the seeds in slightly hot water for one to two days. They should germinate in one or two months.
