The popular PXW-X70 palm-sized camcorder continues to evolve with the addition of XAVC 4K 100Mbps recordings at 30p/25p/24p, plus MPEG HD422 and MPEG HD420, providing even more recording choices. It is possible to select an output from HDMI, SDI, and composite while recording QFHD, plus a salvage function for XAVC file is available. The camcorder also records XAVC HD, AVCHD and DV with advanced network functions such as QoS Streaming in Network Client Mode and Ustream® direct streaming added via firmware version 3.0. The PXW-X70 gives users the ultimate balance between picture quality, advanced functionality and compact size.

1.0 Type Exmor R CMOS Sensor
The PXW-X70 incorporates a 1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor, which is approximately the same size as a Super 16mm film frame, to achieve high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range. The sensor has 14.2 million effective pixels enhancing shooting under severe lighting conditions and providing more freedom of creative expression.

High Sensitivity and High Resolution
The PXW-X70 has higher resolution than any other camcorder in its price range. The 1.0 sensor is brighter and offers more bokeh with a shallow depth of field than 1/3-inch or 1/4.7-inch sensors

OLED Viewfinder
This 0.39-inch OLED viewfinder offers superb OLED brightness, contrast and response. The high resolution (1,440K dot) of the viewfinder allows better precision of manual focus operations and eliminates any color-breaking phenomenon.

Wi-Fi/NFC with Content Browser Mobile
The PXW-X70 can be remotely controlled from a smartphone or tablet computer (iOS 4.3 through 7.0 or Android 2.3 through 4.3) via a Wi-Fi connection. One-touch authentication is also possible with smartphones that offer NFC connectivity*. The required Content Browser Mobile™ mobile smartphone application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store.

Multi-format Recording Capabilities
The PXW-X70 records XAVC QFHD 4K 100Mbps (3840x2160) at 30p/25p/24p, plus MPEG HD422 50Mbps (1920x1080) at 60i/50i/30p/25p/24p and (1280x720) at 60p/50p, as well as MPEG HD420 35Mbps (1920x1080) at 60i/50i/30p/25p/24p, (1440x1080) at 60i/50i and (1280x720) at 60p/50p. other recording options include: XAVC Long GOP 422 10-bit 50Mbps (1920x1080) at 50p/60p/50i/60i/ 30p/25p/24p, 25Mbps (1920x1080) at 50i/60i, as well as 50Mbps (1280x720) at 50p/60p. It is also possible to record AVCHD (1920x1080) and (1280x720), plus DV.

Dual Media Slots
The PXW-X70 is equipped with two memory card slots. The camcorder is compatible with Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark 2), Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, as well as SDXC and SDHC cards. Two media slots can record in either Simul or Relay mode. Simul mode permits simultaneous recording to two memory cards, while Relay mode automatically switches recording from the first to the second memory card when the first is full. The user can set up the two Start/Stop buttons on the PXW-X70, one on the grip and one on the camcorder body, to independently start and stop recording on different memory cards while recording in Simul mode.

ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* Lens
The PXW-X70 is supplied with a fixed 29 mm wide-angle ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens. Ideal for capturing grand landscapes, it also provides up to 12x optical zoom.

Compact XDCAM Camcorder
The PXW-X70 weighs less than 1.4kg, including the XLR handle unit, battery, lens hood and large eye-cup. It offers professional interfaces such as 3G-SDI and HDMI output connectors plus an XLR x2 handle unit with zoom lever. Other professional features include a manual lens ring that can intuitively control zoom and focus, ergonomic palm grip with large zoom lever, two SD memory card slots for backup, simultaneous and relay recording, and a three-level switchable ND filter.
