Q:

Are the cameras made for outdoor use or, able to withstand inclement weather? For instance what is the minimum and maximum temperature they can withstand and are they at least water resistant?

Veronica T.  asked on  Dec 8, 2013

A:

Yes, the cameras will be able to withstand inclement weather to an extent. The minimum temperature is 0 degrees F to 114 degrees F. The cameras are weather resistant, not waterproof. The cameras are weather resistant which means they can withstand contact with water but they are not waterproof. Waterproof would mean they can be submerged under water for an undetermined amount of time and they would be fully functional. It is advised to install the cameras under an overhang to protect against direct water exposure.

Q:

If you buy the set with 8 or so cameras: 1 Can you add to them, if so how many? 2. can you use this system somehow in 2 or more locations 3. how long is the warranty and can you purchase additional years

anj A.  asked on  Dec 8, 2013

A:

The maximum amount of cameras that can be added depends on the channel size of the DVR. A 4 channel DVR can have a maximum of 4 cameras. A 8 channel DVR can have a maximum of 8 cameras. A 16 channel DVR can have a maximum of 16 cameras. Yes you can connect multiple DVR’s and view up to 64 camera channels on your pc/monitor when you utilize the manufacturer's CMS software when connected to the internet. Please keep in mind you would require a DVR unit at each location you wanted to protect. The warranty on all Night Owl products is currently 1 year and they do not currently offer an extended warranty program.

Q:

I have 2 questions: 1) If these are not waterproof and they are outside, won't they get ruined when it rains? Is there a way to protect them from dying when the rain hits? 2) This may be a silly question, but these are called out to be night cameras. How well do they work during the daytime? 3) What is the viewing angle per camera? i.e. 180, 90 60? Thank you.

Jessica M.  asked on  Dec 7, 2013

It is advised to install the cameras under an overhang to protect against direct water exposure. They work excellent during the day. The viewing angle on the cameras is 42 degrees.
