This is the heaviest phone case I've ever seen. Sometimes when you're having a conversation on the phone, the person on the other end hears your voice like an echo. The cover makes the phone keypad and the buttons on the side of the phone very hard to press. When you are finished with a call, the cover doesn't allow you to see the contact and phone information so you can't end the call, the other person has to actually end the call. I only used it for 1 week so I don't know how waterproof it is but I hope it has that going for it because everything else about it is terrible.
The Otterbox was definitely water proof. Unfortunately it was also sound proof and very difficult to navigate the screen on the Samsung S3. The outside activation buttons were difficult to push in and the lower "back" and "menu" button were impossible to use. The contact area was so small you could barely touch the screen with your finger, The case was huge and heavy, which is understandable due to being indestructible. It is great protection for your phone as long as you don't wish to communicate on it. We are stuck with 2 of the 5 that we bought because they were taken out of the packaging. This was a true waste of money.
I tested the case empty in water for several hours and there was no condensation inside the box. I purchased it to use on my vacation to take some pictures while we were snorkeling. The phone was being splashed but never completely submerged. The touch screen does not work if your finger is wet, and I didn't get to take pictures of my kid on their first snorkeling trip or petting a nurse shark our guide found for us. I'm so mad to have missed those moments! Also, as soon as we got back into the boat there was water inside the case! Again, it was not submerged, and definitely not to 6' for 30 minutes as OtterBox claims. I would NOT recommend this case to anyone who wants to take pictures in the water, submersed or not. I regret simply not buying a waterproof camera.
It protects your phone from wind and dust...and sound. You can barely hear through the membrane over the ear piece, and people can barely hear you thanks to the membrane over the mic. If you use a Bluetooth headset this isn't that big a problem...if it dies, you're pretty well screwed.Likewise, the screen protector also seems to protect your screen from being touched - it hovers mere millimeters from the screen so swiping is not an issue, but actually touching radio buttons on a website or typing can be - one of my co-workers placed a business card or two behind his phone in the case to alleviate the problem, but from where I sit we shouldn't have to do that. NOT water-proof.
1. Ottterbox is HUGE. Increases phone size by 3x. Too big and bulky.
2. Case also hinders person speaking, so much so, that you have to take the case off to actually \"talk\" to another person to be understood.
3. Shipping took ALOT longer than anticipated. If an item is going to be offered on Groupon they should have stock on hand to ship immediately, not 2 - 2 1/2 weeks later !! Purchased 8/20 - Received after Sept 3rd !
I have to continually remove the phone from the case to end a call. The screen will not recall when in the case. When it is not in the case, I do not have the same problem. I am a contractor, & as such, I was thrilled with the low price for such a protective case, but it is not very convenient if I have to take it out of the case every time to disconnect a call. Also, I can hear an incoming call, but with the screen blacked out, I cannot tell who is calling nor can I switch over the calls. If you have any suggestions on how this is supposed to work, please email me back, otherwise, perhaps the phone case is a big dud!
It is thick and bulky. That's why it's called the Armor Series, so if you're looking for something comfortable that you can keep in your jean pockets you'll need to get something else. I'm really happy with the product, however shipping took way tooooo loooong.
While it is a bit unwieldy for day-to-day use due to the bulk it adds and some of the buttons require a great deal of pressure sometimes. However, for me it is GREAT for protecting my phone while out backpacking! I could also see it being great if you break a phones often.
First, the ordering process with Groupon went smoothly. The shipping was a little slower than what I have come to expect given sites like Amazon, but wasn't horrible either. Now as far as the product itself, I would not recommend if you don't use a bluetooth device. Yes it protects it your phone unbelievably well, super sturdy. However, it makes your phone really bulky and you cannot hear the other party and they cannot hear you, again if you use a bluetooth device it won't matter. It really muffles everything.
This box may protect well, but it's big and clunky. Too large and heavy to carry in a pocket (even in a cargo shorts pocket). Probably fine in a purse or other bag. I was annoyed at the little plugin flaps that make it water resistant. Made it a royal pain to plug into my car to listen to audiobooks or music and to power up. We ended up returning it as we knew we weren't going to use it.
