Q:

What color is the faux lambs' wool cover? Is it pictured in the Groupon special or is that a picture of the PVC exterior? Does the cover zip on or does it just slide on and then is open at one end?

Q:

Greetings, I am planning to use this for our outdoor cat's house. The small pad will not fill the surface of the 'bedroom' of this house, but the medium size would have to be bent in order for the overflow to go up the interior wall of this space. Secondly, I have read an earlier answer indicating the manufacturer does not recommend putting anything else on top of this bed. Our cat likes to curl up in blankets, nest style. If I got the small size and put a fleece blanket around the outside of the pad, would that be considered a fire hazard? Thanks, Elizabeth S. Thanks,

James S.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Hi Elizabeth! They never recommend putting this item in a locked kennel unless 50% of the floor covering is bare. They also do not recommend putting other items on top of the bed.

Q:

I was researching this and found the same item for sale on another site, together with K&H " Lectro-Temp Control" which apparently your company sells separately. Manufacturer's description says: "IT IS NEEDED ANY TIME THE PET CANNOT REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM THE BED". Is this temp control unit available through Groupon, and if it is indeed needed for pet safety, why not? Thank you.

mimi m.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

Hi Mimi! This item is not available through Groupon Goods. It is not needed if the pet isn’t going to be locked in a crate and can’t get off of the pad.

Q:

Hi. Thank you for helping us. 1. Have there been any instances of this unit starting fires or electrocuting pets reported to the manufacturer? If so, please elaborate. 2. Please verify that the main heating element is activated only when the pet is on the bed. 3 What is the power draw in Kw of the large unit when in "standby", i.e. when plugged in but empty? 4a. We have a large apt with huge windows that we keep on the cool side to avoid 4 figure electric bills in NYC, perhaps as low as 50F (10C). Will it work at that temperature? 4b. Also, is there a maximum ambient temperature for the main heater to power on so as not to overheat our GSP when she is crated?

mimi m.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

Hi Mimi! Thanks for all of your questions! Here is a reply from the manufacturer:

"The product is MET listed and meets all safety standards. The bed is always on if it's plugged in. The small is 20 watt, medium 40 watt, large 60 watt. It is the same wattage all the time. As far as the Lectro-Soft in a crate, we never recommend putting this item in a locked kennel unless 50% of the floor covering is bare. The pet needs to choose if they want to lay on a heated surface and if it gets to warm, they have the choice to get off."

Q:

Sorry, I don't know if my questions got submitted.... How can one clean the wool cover? Can a throw/sheet/small blanket be used over the pad without causing burns/overheating? Is the pad temp. self regulating, are there multiple heat settings? I would like to put this heating pad in a box for my cats to curl up on! Inquiring cats want to know! Thank you!

Robin S.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

Hi Robin! It is a faux lambs' wool, so it can be removed and washed in the washing machine. They do not encourage putting other items on top of this bed. There is no specific temperature setting. It will warm up when your pet is on the bed and keep them toasty.
