Q:

Can you verify whether the topper is solid as the picture indicates, or, if it resembles an egg crate like many cheaper foam toppers and this is what is meant by "open cell" design. Also, I am familiar with the gel toppers which actively reduce body heat, what is the heat reduction method with this topper?

Kimberly  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Absolutely NOT an egg crate! This is a solid foam premium quality topper, thanks for asking that because it frustrates us too when companies represent a convoluted egg crate style topper as being the same quality as our solid foam toppers. The "open cell" design refers to the manner in which the foam is produced and poured, which allows for 5X more air flow throughout the foam cells than traditional foam. Consequently, the foam traps heat less and stays cool - similar to the gel foam that you are referring to.

Q:

I can't decide if I want to purchase the 2" or the 3". Can you describe the difference a little more? Thanks! -Suzanne

Suzanne M.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Both the 2" and 3" toppers are made from the same premium 4lb density foam. All of our foam is 100% USA Made with no imported foam used and is CertiPur-US Certifed. The 3" thick topper provides an additional one inch layer of plush comfort for the maximum "sleeping on a cloud" feeling. If you do not want quite so much cushion, then the 2" is ideal. Both are fabulous and of equal quality, it's really just a matter of how much luxurious cushiony comfort you prefer.

Q:

I am considering the mattress topper to keep on hand for a rather uncomfortable pull-out couch. My question is about storage size during the times I will not be using the mattress. How much storage space will I need? Will I be able to keep it in the top of a closet?

Robin T.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Hi Robin, no it's really too large to keep on top unless you can utilize the entire shelf lengthwise. Take the width of the size that you are buying to determine either the length (if you lay the topper down) or height (if you stand it up on it's end) of the storage space you will need. You can roll the topper for storage, we recommend using Saran Wrap or other plastic around the middle and each end to help keep it rolled, we do not recommend tape as it can stick to and tear the foam.

Q:

Hi My problem is that i am looking for a firmer surface since my mattress is too soft. I am not sure of the topper is firm enough and it will resolve my problem.... let me know if there are different types like, firm, more firm.. Thank you!

raphaella c.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

The 4lb premium foam we are using for both our 3" and 2" toppers is considered medium firm. But Raphaella if your mattress is too soft I do not think a topper will fix the problem, you really need to consider buying a firmer mattress. Email me directly at info@luxefoam.com and let me give you some further info that might be helpful. Be sure to ask for Lori when you email.

Q:

We have a sleeper sofa that has a three inch mattress. It has a mattress that is completely removable and completely uncomfortable! Any reason I couldn't replace the mattress with the topper? Do you think it would "fold" or bend enough to put it away when the sleeper sofa is closed? Would that damage the topper too much?

Juanita P.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

The toppers are really designed to be used on top of a mattress, they need the extra support underneath them. Most sleeper sofas have a very uncomfortable metal frame as their base. What I would recommend is buying a topper to use on top of the mattress, but just keep it rolled up in a closet when not in use. It's best not to keep it folded up on the sofa. The topper will make your sofa bed SO much more comfortable!

Q:

Can I be sure that the California King size fitted sheets will work with the two-inch topper?

Gloria S.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

The topper is intentionally cut an inch short on all four sides to help with fitting under standard sheets. It really does depend on how old and tight your sheets are though, if they shrunk over the years from washing you may not have alot of extra room. If your sheets are already stretched really tight you might have an issue, otherwise the should work fine.

Q:

Will this work on top of a pillow top mattress?

Lindsey M.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Hi Lindsey yes, absolutely, it adds an extra layer of comfort and support and will help smooth out the uneven nature of some pillow top mattresses.

Q:

I have a firm mattress right now, and have had it for 15 years. I would like to buy a firm memory-foam mattress topper. It's hard buying a topper without trying it first. In the description it says that the 2 inch topper is more firm than the 3 inch topper. Is that true? If so, is it really firm, or just not as soft as the 3 inch one? I don't know if that makes sense, but I just want to make sure it would be described as a firm memory-foam mattress cover. Thanks!

Kristi B.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

Hi Kristi, both the 2" and 3" topper are the same premium 4 lb. density foam and are designed to add an extra layer of comfort to your existing mattress and to help relieve pressure points from your body. The 2", because it has an inch less of height to it, will not feel as plush as the 3" so will seem more firm. Given the age of your mattress I think a topper is a wonderful idea but keep in mind that memory foam toppers are designed to add a bit of "softness" together with their resilient support.
