Is this a model that was produced recently-within the last year, or are these ones that have been sitting in a warehouse, having been made two or more years ago?

A:

This stock is brand new and was recently manufactured. It was made towards the very end of 2012!

Q:

What is the level of noise that the unit makes?

Bonnie B.  asked on  Jan 28, 2013

A:

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not publish a decibel level. It will be as loud as an upright vacuum.

However, you can schedule this vacuum to clean when you are not in the house!

A:

Yes, it can clean a house with more than 2,000 sq. ft.

Q:

What is the difference between the Laser-based Room Positioning System technology (Model XV-11) vs. the onboard Room Positioning System (RPS) technology (Model XV-21)?

Deanna T.  asked on  Jan 28, 2013

A:

The Neato XV-11 is comparable to the XV-21 because in this exclusive Groupon offering we are providing you with the $59.99 pet and allergy upgrade kit. With the upgrade kit, the Neato is the exact same as the best model (XV-21) The only difference is the color of the unit!

Q:

What are the "boundary strips" ?

Paul G.  asked on  Jan 28, 2013

A:

Boundary strips are "do not travel through strips". The act as boundaries for the Neato vacuum. You can place them under furniture, at doorways, etc. Neato will clean up to the strip but not drive through it.

Q:

I assume the allergy filter is reusable, if so how do you clean it each time you empty the Neato? Thanks.

Victoria G.  asked on  Jan 27, 2013

A:

Yes, the allergy filter is reusable. You simply brush it off with your finger. Once in a while, Neato recommends using the attachment from your normal upright vacuum to suck the extra dirt/dust out from the inner parts of the Neato filter. This will preserve the life of the filter and make it last well over 6 months to 1 year.

Q:

Does Neato need invisible barrier walls like the Roomba? Also how big of a room can it handle on one charge? My kitchen/dinning/living room is one huge space not separated by walls and I am wondering if it can handle such a large room.

brittany m.  asked on  Jan 28, 2013

A:

Because it automatically returns to its base to recharge and then picks up where it left off it can easily cover entire house floors over 1,000 square feet.

The Neato uses lasers to travel from place to place and will automatically return to the charging station. It will also return to the charging station if the battery is running low. It would then return back to where it stopped cleaning and finish the job.
