Ronco founder Ron Popeil epitomizes the self-made man. The inventor and pitchman started in humble surroundings: in his early years, he was under the foster care of his grandparents. As a teenager, however, he came to Chicago, where his estranged father made vegetable slicers. Ron discovered he had a knack for selling them, making continual pitches at a Woolworth’s. He soon decided he could create his own products, as well, such as the Showtime Rotisserie and the Pocket Fisherman. Those products and others—many of which are still being sold today—soon appeared on TV airwaves, sold by the man himself during some of the earliest infomercials. His success has had plenty of influence on paid programming today; in fact, he can take credit for many staple infomercial phrases, such as “Operators are standing by!” and “But wait! There’s more!”

I use this all of the time for beef jerky and it comes out great every time. If I use larger strips of meat I rotate the trays every few hours. I usually use thin strips for stir fry and cut them in half so their not so long and don’t ever have to rotate trays. It usually takes 8 to 10 hours depending on how thick the strips are, and that’s with a wet marinade. Just recently trays started to crack
I went to use this and the plastic trays started to melt. I was so upset, as not only did I lose 2 trays, but what I was dehydrating was ruined. It all tasted like melted plastic! YUCK! \n\nVery expensive mistake!\n\nI have owned a cheap tray dehydrator, which is not near as fancy as this one, that I have used for over 25 years and it still works great. I cost me a fraction of the price.\n\nCan I return this one so I can get my money back, or should I just pitch it!
Haven't used Jerky Maker yet but looks great and easy to use.The bonus potatoe chip maker included with this item works great and super easy to use and the chips turnout great ! You can make all kinds with the included recipe boo ! FANTASTIC buy this item !!
Opened the box read the first recipe and it called for 1-1.5 drying time for beef jerky and rotating trays every few hours.... Ummm no thank you I will not leave something operating at high heat on overnight while sleeping. There are jerky makers out there for similar price and only 4-5 hours drying time.
