Q:

Have they gotten this to work with Windows 8 yet?

Michael E.  asked on  Jan 25, 2013

A:

These do not have the capability to stream locally from your PC over your network connection, only wirelessly via WiDi with a compatible WiDi-enabled Intel laptop. For questions about support, you would need to refer to Netgear's site or tech support.

Q:

What is Intel WiDi? I have a three year old laptop and I am not sure if it has that? Is that a new feature in laptops that my older laptop might now have that feature

John T.  asked on  Jan 25, 2013

A:

It is "Intel Wireless Display" used for displaying your laptop screen on a compatible device. It is a fairly recent technology, so older laptops may not have the functionality. Typically if your laptop has it, you can type "WiDi" in your search bar and a WiDi application would show up. You would need to refer to Intel's site for more info.

Q:

So in order for this product to work you need a laptop with Intel WiDI, which Mac's do not have?

Reniel D.  asked on  Jan 25, 2013

A:

You you only need Intel WiDi for the optional on-screen wireless laptop display feature of the 200S. That is essentially a bonus feature of the 200S model. All of the other core features would work with just an internet connection and an HDMI cable to connect the box to your TV directly. You would just connect the box to your TV, connect the power, connect to the internet, and you're all set up. You'd otherwise only need a computer for registering for any service, such as creating a Netflix account.
