The ghastly guides of Ghost Tours Texas lead groups of foolhardy interlopers on 90-minute story-filled journeys past the spectrally inhabited landmarks of Galveston, Houston Heights, and Kemah. The knowledgeable leader of the Galveston tour takes parties through the Silk Stocking district to visit the 1858 Ashton Villa mansion, whose second floor is occupied by the phantom “Miss Betty” Brown and whose basement is occupied by a man who years ago forgot how to work a doorknob. The Houston Heights tour winds through the area’s historic and opulent homes, exploring such mysteries as the fire that consumed the Black Mansion and its wealthy owner, leaving her vengeful spirit to tut-tut children playing with matches for all eternity. Visitors to the Kemah expedition explore eight major attractions of the Lighthouse District on Galveston Bay, such as Madeleine’s Wine Bistro, said to be staffed by a ghostly cook, and the shimmering waters of the bay, home to ex-pirate Jean Lafitte and his collection of ships inside bottles.

The tours are suitable for all ages, though youngsters may become frightened and confused at the guide’s repeated references to Ghostbusters. View the schedule page to find tour times and dates.

The Houston Heights tour winds through the area's historical and opulent homes, exploring such mysteries as the story of the Dean Correl murders and the children who are said to still haunt the alleyways of Houston Heights. My friends and I had a great time for the Groupon price, but agreed that we might have felt overcharged at the regular, asking price.

The tour itself was great and very informative. I do think that the poor guide needed help having everyone sign the waivers and collecting money before the tour. She was quite overwhelmed and clearly needed help at the very beginning with this. Some patrons became impatient and it was really not her fault. I had a a great time overall.

The tour guide was a very good story teller! I enjoyed listening to him about the history of the houses we went too & some of Galveston's history as well. :)
