If you've never had authentic New York–style pizza, then what you think is pizza might in fact be a cunningly disguised pretzel. Today's Groupon clears up the confusion: for $12, you get $25 worth of Italian fare at Gino’s NY Style Pizzeria in Palm Harbor.
For more than 20 years, Gino’s NY Style Pizzeria has delighted taste buds with pies that Palm Harbor Patch calls “NY Style pizza at its best.” Inspired by family recipes, chef Gino Bonetti oversees a menu of brick-oven pizzas, pasta, chicken, and subs that quickly quiet rumbling stomachs. Neapolitan pies ($10.95+) face off with sicilian-style pizzas ($13.50+) to compete for stomach real estate, stuffing mouth holes with personalized combinations of pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, fresh garlic, and onions. Meanwhile, an extrathin Grandma’s Pizza ($13.95) is simply decorated with plum tomatoes, basil, garlic, and mozzarella. Pillows of cheese ravioli draped with creamy cheese sauce, mushrooms, and prosciutto ($10.95) and the chicken francese’s egg-dipped chicken with butter wine sauce ($12.95) also quell appetites. Or bites of breaded veal and eggplant ($15.95) serve as a culinary preamble to homemade cannoli ($3.95).
Gino's NY Style Pizzeria
Though Gino Bonetti has lived in Florida for nearly a quarter-century, he has every right to call his pizza New York-style. The Sicilian-born restaurateur lived in Queens for 30 years, during which time he fell hard for the city's versions of his native Italian cuisine. Since 1993, Gino, his wife, Arlene, and their two children have operated Gino's NY Style Pizzeria, where chefs prepare both Neapolitan- and Sicilian-inspired pies. Whichever style they choose, customers can have their pizzas topped with anything from meatballs and eggplant to premium toppings such as prosciutto and artichoke hearts.
In addition to pizza, the cooks also whip up hot and cold subs brimming with veal cutlets or cappicola, as well as use traditional recipes to prepare a lineup of baked pasta dishes, including a lobster ravioli with homemade vodka sauce. In good Italian tradition, they bolster their myriad of chicken, veal, or seafood entrees with a hearty side of pasta and garlic rolls. Gino's also provides catering services, as well as can help plan complete events with recommendations for local equipment rental, videographers, and linen providers.
