Q:

What is the minimum age a person can get their divers certification? I'd like to do this with my kids, but they may be too young.

Janet S.  asked on  Jan 6, 2013

A:

For the 5 night course, we ask that the kids be 14 and older. We do offer Teen Programs for 12 and older, but too often, mixing younger children into adult classes decreases the learning process for the kids.

Q:

Is there a list for the tropical class in regards to locations? Specifically, I'm wondering about Belize and if it offered there then I'm wondering what the name of the dive shops are? I'd like to read a bit about them before committing. Thanks.

Pamela C.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

GirlDiver participates in the International Referral Program through SSI (Scuba Schools International). There are over 2700 SSI resorts worldwide. Through this program we can also refer our divers to PADI, NAUI, SDI, CMAS and BSAC resorts. In the country of Belize there are over 50 dive centers scattered across the Cayes (islands) and on the mainland. If you are interested in selecting a specific dive center, please call our dive center and we can narrow the search down by where you've booked your vacation. Our store number is 253.833.8682. We're available M-F from 11:00 - 6:00 pm. If we're with a customer, leave a message and we'll return it right away.

Q:

Are the weeknight classes for the Open Water Certification completed in one week or over several weeks within a given month? What is your policy on make-up sessions?

Micaela E.  asked on  Jan 2, 2013

A:

The Open Water Certification is completed over 3 weeks. We run 2 sessions per month. If a conflict happens, we will work with you to have you make up the session with one of the next classes. We DO have a "max" class size, so we will need to schedule you into one with room. To best overcome scheduling conflicts, contact us EARLY (right after you purchase the Groupon works...) so we can help make things work for you. If we do need to do a private session with you, the pool charge is $75/hr and Open Water dives are $50/dive. But there is no charge if we can work you into another session.

Q:

my only free evening are thursdays and fridays. Will these ties wok with your instruton schedules? Do you hae a phone number I may call if I have more questions? Ed

ed b.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

Our weeknight classes are held on M, T, W & Th nights, depending on the pools schedules. Our Weekend Classes occupy our Friday evenings, so it doesn't look like this would be the best option for you, unfortunately. Our office number is 253.833.8682. We'll be in the office until 3 pm today and 11-6 for the remainder of the week.

Q:

If I buy an Open Water Certification offer what times in the week will the classes be ? Do you offer weekend classes ? Where will the classes be held

Chetan S.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

The classes are held in the evenings. Class and pool sessions are held after 6 pm and Open Water dives are at 4:00 pm on two nights in West Seattle. We do offer One Weekend Executive Classes, however, this offer is only applicable for the weekday class sessions.

Q:

The ad says we need to rent or buy a personal snorkelling system. Can you please detail what this is and how much it costs ?

Chetan S.  asked on  Jan 1, 2013

A:

We offer student packages starting at $149 or rentals are $20 per water session. This is SCUBA quality gear, meant for underwater use...not the "snorkeling" quality for use on the surface of the water. We cover selection of the personal snorkeling system, and do a mask fitting, at the first session so students have time to make an informed purchase prior to the class.
