A delicate work of floral art is the best way to bribe your paperboy for free cable or to sell your boss on Free Taco Fridays. Apologize, say thank you, or wink and nudge your loved and useful ones with today's Groupon: for $50, you get a floral-arranging class at Gitché Yah Yah (a $125 value). Classes are held in Gitché Yah Yah’s Intown studio. This Groupon is not valid for the Basic Floral Design class.
Gitché Yah Yah's class teaches students to perfect petal-whispering techniques while having a fun Friday night with friends. Once the small class assembles (typically 6–10 students), the helpful flower gurus will doll out tasty hors d’oeuvres while guiding the floral-curious on a specialized floral-arranging technique that may include traditional Japanese designs or the use of summer fruits (new classes are frequently added, check the schedule for upcoming options). They’ll show class-goers how to snip, fold, clip, and fluff the flowers into a living work of art. During the intimate two- to three-hour class, students receive personal attention and instruction from Gitché Yah Yah’s principal designer, who helps arrangers artfully conceive and create two arrangements to take home to a mother, father, or a friend, or a larger display of sentient flowers that requires the sacrifice of smaller bouquets to sustain itself. Classes are festive, BYOB events, and all flowers and supplies will be provided. Call ahead to schedule a class time.
Although there are not yet many reviews available on classes, three Yelpers give Gitché Yah Yah a five-star average rating:
