Orange Bowl Basketball Classic
Now in its 22nd year, the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic will dribble into the BB&T Center on December 19 during a college hoops doubleheader featuring a trio of Florida teams. In the first game at 5 p.m., the FAU Owls battle a young and extremely talented Florida State squad that returned all five of its starters from last season. Freshman guard Malik Beasley has also lifted FSU’s offense to another level by averaging 20 points per game and shooting nearly 60% from the field.
Once that matchup ends and the game ball enjoys a quick massage, the Florida Gators rumble onto the floor behind forward Dorian Finney-Smith. Averaging 14 points and nine rebounds per game, the 6’8” senior has led the Gators to their best start since their Final Four run in 2013–14. The Oklahoma State Cowboys, meanwhile, will counter with some experience of their own, as they’ve advanced to the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons.
