60th Annual Johnson County Sheriff Posse PRCA Pro Rodeo
Another chapter in the age-old battle of human vs. livestock unravels on June 11 and 12, when the Johnson County Sheriff Posse PRCA Pro Rodeo rumbles into its 60th annual rodeo. Professional bull-riders headline the event, demonstrating their steely resolve as they hold precariously to massive, bucking mounts. Other events bring different animals into the fray, including bronc riding, team roping, and steer saddling. Spectators even have the option to participate in events such as the children’s calf scramble and the ladies steer scramble. All ticketholders and horses who know how to sign their name will also have the chance to win great prizes in raffles. On Wednesday night, active members of the armed forces and first-responders gain free entry for Military and First-Responder Appreciation Night. On Thursday, a live singer opens the night’s action to ring in God and Country Night.
Johnson County Sheriff Posse
The Johnson County Sheriff Posse strives to preserve the frontier skills of the western lifestyle in the 21st century. The organization maintains a riding club that fosters horsemanship among members and prevent aspiring cowboys from saddling up on hybrid cars roaming the neighborhood. They also host parades, civic affairs, rodeos, and equestrian competitions to showcase their skills and cultivate a deeper sense of community.
