The Lineup

  • HELLYEAH: This all-caps supergroup comprises vocalist Chad Gray of Mudvayne, guitarist Tom Maxwell of Nothingface, bassist Kyle Sanders of Bloodsimple, and drummer Vinnie Paul of Damageplan and Pantera.
  • P.O.D.: Heard on smash hits such as “Alive” and “Youth of the Nation,” Payable on Death’s unlikely combination of reggae, hip-hop, Latin, metal, and Christianity has led to the sale of more than 12 million albums worldwide.
  • 10 Years: Hard-hitting drums, ominous guitar, and anthemic choruses have defined the sound of this alt-metal outfit since their first hit, “Wasteland.” A decade later, they’re still rocking with the release of their seventh studio album, From Birth to Burial.
  • Adelitas Way: With a taut alt-metal sound that makes listeners want to wrestle near a crime scene, this Vegas quartet’s breakout single, “Invincible,” found its way onto the CSI Miami finale and became the theme for WWE Superstars; recently they’ve toured with the likes of Guns ‘N Roses, Creed, Shinedown, and Godsmack.
  • Avatar: “Terrifying” is probably the best word for describing this Swedish death metal outfit, and not just because of song titles such as “Bloody Angel” and “Hail the Apocalypse.” On stage this five-piece embraces the theatricality of horror, with frontman Johannes Eckerström painting his face up like a demented clown as he screams and snarls.
  • Islander: Built around chunky bass lines, fiery guitar riffs, machine gun drums, and singer Mikey Carvajal’s tortured howls, nu metal outfit Islander has unsurprisingly drawn favorable comparisons to Korn, the Deftones, and Rage Against the Machine in their songs “Coconut Dracula” and “Cold Speak.”
