A Little Night Music
The Plot: Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film, Smiles of a Summer Night, the story finds the inhabitants of a 1900’s Swedish country home—including an actress, her married ex-lover, and her current lover’s wife—in the throes of love and lust, longing and regret, and honesty and infidelity on a hot and magical midsummer night.
The Showstoppers: Sondheim’s score of romantic waltzes and heart-bruisers includes the timeless tearjerker, “Send in the Clowns.”
