I think the festival was wonderful and it was great to see Beatles fans from all walks of life. I would suggest that there be clearer signs so people know exactly where the ballrooms are located. Since it rained, there should be a contingency plan or at least let people know beforehand that in the case of rain, the schedule is subject to change and to make sure those changes are better communicated with the attendees. I saw a lot of people confused about the changes in the lineup due to the rain. We arrived on Sunday at noon, and no one addressed the crowd concerning the cancellation of several performances outside and the delay of other performances due to the rain. So, even though we arrived there at noon, the show in the Potomac Ballroom did not start until around 2pm. And even then, it was not the group that was on the printed schedule. One of the presenters said that due to the rain: "everyone was flying by the seat of their pants", so I guess it was understandable due to the rain, but it gives the attendee a feeling of disorganization with the event.

Gary - please go back to all general admission seating. Saturday night my wife and I got to the lawn stage at 6:30 to reserve a little space for the 8:30 Love Show and that didn't work cos hundreds of people had already done the same and there was no room left...alll while the reserved seating area (more $) was 1/2 empty at that time. Since money is the issue, just raise your prices a bit and make it all general admission, OR, find a bigger place to hold the Love show cos that's what everyone is waiting for! To make matters worse, with no room left on the lawn, staff allowed people to stand in front of the white fence which blocked the view for people sitting on the lawn. A new feature that wasn't part of last years show was the video screen above the lawn stage. This was good when the cameras focused on the performers (like a real concert - which it was!), but all the old Beatle clips and pschedelic video got old fast and took the focus off the real stars - the great performers you had on stage. Other then that, and the unforunate lightning and rain, the bands were very good this year and did a great job.

Abbey Road on the River bills itself as the world’s largest Beatles-inspired music festival, with more than 40 bands paying tribute to the oft-overlooked British Invasion act during Labor Day weekend. Each day of the festival sets indoor and outdoor stages chiming with the reanimated sounds of The Fab Four, their contemporaries, and the great American rock and R & B acts who inspired them. Tribute acts from Canada, Holland, Germany, England, and Japan, as well as U.S.-based songsters, storm the stage. The full scope of Beatlemania shines in other events and activities including seminars, sing-along, memorabilia exhibits, and films.

On Friday at 8:45 p.m., Jefferson Starship takes to the stage to continue a legacy begun as seminal psychedelic rock band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jefferson Airplane. Led by cofounder Paul Kantner, the band weaves trippy guitar lines all the way back to the electrified folk on which its parent group first sailed to fame.
