Amid the 1950s’ swirl of hoop skirts and greased hair, four vocally talented high-school friends on the way to their big break had their dreams and lives cut short in a car wreck. But they’re back. Revived to put on the show that would have rocketed them to stardom, the guy group takes the stage for a foot-tapping, highly harmonized musical revue. The crooners cycle through pop hits from their day such as “Three Coins in the Fountain” and “Sixteen Tons” while evoking laughter with bickering banter over the pettiest details and exact meaning of “Cheese it.” Death and resurrection haven’t dulled their showmanship a lick, and as they slip and slide through the octaves of “Love is a Many Splendored Thing,” they ensure their eccentric dance steps are followed through with the utmost precision.
