What You'll Do
Stroll up to the Loeb Central Park Boathouse and you'll be struck by one of the city's most beautiful views: the iconic San Remo Apartments rising over a tree-lined lake. With step-by-step guidance from Alonsa Guevara, students will not only learn to appreciate the subtleties of the scene, they'll capture them on canvas.
Learn from a Professional Painter
Alonsa begins each session with an explanation of the materials and a 10-minute demo to impart the techniques necessary to capture the scene.
Paint a Landscape
With a provided 11"x14" primed canvas board, three brushes, acrylic paint, and a paper-plate palette, students depict the Lake and the San Remo Apartments, following Alonsa step by step.
Share Your Work
Before leaving with your painting, gather around with the other participants and share what you've created.
Alonsa Guevara was only 12 when she first painted with oils, but it only took her a few minutes to realize she was hooked. From that point she dedicated herself to drawing and painting, eventually logging four years of art school in her native Chile and earning her MFA in New York. While developing her vibrant style, she has devoted herself to bringing the gift of art to others, leading classes for adults and children throughout New York and Connecticut and earning plenty of media attention along the way.
