What You'll Do
Andrea Mattson has a DIY attitude when it comes to most everything, especially if seasonal ingredients are involved. Learn her all-natural skincare secrets during this spring-themed workshop, which starts with a refreshing honey-infused mask. Andrea then shows you how to transform natural, easy-to-find ingredients into different types of skincare remedies, from deodorant to moisturizing hand salve.
Pamper Yourself with a Mask
The workshop begins with a detoxifying clay mask that's made with local honey.
Learn to Mix Natural Skincare Items
Andrea demonstrates how to create custom toners to balance pH, and then shows you how to mix three spring-themed products: lavender-scented deodorant, moisturizing hand salve, and a hair rinse made with nettles and dried sage.
Leave the workshop with concocting knowledge and a sampling of natural skincare products. Be sure to bring along three small bottles or jars (2–5 ounces each) with lids.
Andrea Mattson likes to know everything she can about the food on her plate. With her finger on the pulse of Chicago’s locavore movement, Mattson cultivates relationships with new and existing local farmers, which bolsters her role as the manager of Edible Alchemy Foods Co-operative. She is also a member of the Eco Collective in Pilsen, where she hosts workshops and community events that share her passion for gardening, cooking, and medicinal herbs.
