One of the biggest conventions in Chicago, Anime Midwest features several voice actors, a rave dance night, formal Fantasy Ball, as well as free refreshments such as rice, ramen, and soda. The convention is held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, next to O'Hare airport, and approximately 25 minutes from downtown Chicago.
One of the highlights of Anime Midwest is the cosplay competition, where fans show off their intricate costumes and compete for prizes. It's an incredible opportunity to see some of the best cosplayers in the world, some of whom are competing to win a chance to go to Japan And if you're not into cosplay, there are plenty of other events to enjoy, such as the video game tournaments, artist alley, and exhibitor hall.
Another must-see event at Anime Midwest is the live concerts featuring some of the hottest anime music artists from Japan. This year's lineup includes Who-ya Extended, who is known for their high-energy performances and has contributed music to popular anime series such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Psycho-Pass 3, and Night Head 2041. Their music combines elements of rock, pop, and hip-hop to create a unique sound that has gained them a devoted following around the world. Also participating this year are other musical artists from Japan including composers Masahiro Aoki (CAPCOM), and Takahiro Obata (PROMISED NEVERLAND).
The convention also features tabletop board gaming, karaoke , autograph signings and one-on-ones with anime voice actors, and lots of unique events. Gamers can test their skills in the Japanese arcade game room, featuring a variety of classic and modern arcade games popular in Japan. Attendees can also participate in various panels, workshops, and events featuring special guests and industry professionals, as well as explore the exhibitor hall and artist alley for a variety of anime-related merchandise and artwork.
Anime Midwest is an annual convention that celebrates anime, manga, and Japanese culture located in suburban Chicago / Rosemont.
