Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Presents Beethoven Lives Upstairs

Christoph has a problem. The tenant who moved in above his Vienna apartment constantly creates such pounding melodies on his piano that Christoph can hardly sleep at night. To vent his frustration, Christoph begins writing to his uncle about this "madman." What ensues is a series of lively letters set to a soundtrack of Beethoven's classic compositions. With the help of his uncle's words, Christoph grows to appreciate Beethoven's music, as well as understand the torment that the composer's deafness brings in this fully staged theatrical concert from Classical Kids Live performed by the A2SO.

Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra

In 1928, four musicians from an Ann Arbor church joined together to play at services. Decades later, after several names and a number of music directors, the orchestra continues strong. Current music director Arie Lipsky leads the group through programs tailored for listeners of all ages, from evenings of Tchaikovsky and Dvořák to family-friendly sing-alongs. That emphasis on accessibility even extends beyond the orchestra—Lipsky also hosts pre-concert talks to help audiences deepen their enjoyment of the music.
