What You'll Get
Concerts are best enjoyed in the summer, since the sunshine lowers the risk that the bassist will see his own shadow and bring on six more weeks of Christmas carols. Relax into seasonal songs with this deal for one G-Pass to see the Dukes of September featuring Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs at Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in Universal City. For $25, you get one G-Pass for reserved seating in sections 14–23 on Thursday, June 28, at 8:15 p.m. (up to a $72.15 value, including all fees). Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Because the ticket is a G-Pass, our customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their voucher at will cal.
The Dukes of September came together in 2010, but they’re as far from newcomers as it gets. As if a classic-rock fan’s record collection sprang to life, the supergroup draws on the talents of Michael McDonald, Donald Fagen, and Boz Scaggs. Aside from long and laureled careers as a Doobie Brother, Steely Dan frontman, and solo songwriter, respectively, the trio has previously played together. As the New York Rock and Roll Soul Revue in the ’90s, they paid tribute to the sounds that shaped all three, from Etta James to Eddie Floyd.
After two decades, they’ve revived their revue of classic blue-eyed soul, jazz, R&B, and rock ‘n’ roll. “The idea was to play music that we all liked when we were kids—music that made us want to become musicians in the first place,” Fagen reported to Rolling Stone. They’ve also mixed in hits from their days sailing the airwaves of Top 40 radio, along with the occasional cut from contemporaries such as the Grateful Dead or The Band. Throughout it all, audiences can expect McDonald to come equipped with his unmistakable bearskin-rug bellow and ability to play piano underwater, Fagen to send his fingers scampering through jazz chords, and Scaggs to pour out his velvety croon.
Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through the mobile app.
