San Diego Civic beckons The Offspring to its sprawling stage for a night of powerful rock anthems to heat up the early autumn. Over a nearly three-decade career, the SoCal quartet has stormed airwaves with Dexter Holland’s punkish vocals, which careen between playful and urgent in such ‘90s hits as “Self Esteem” and “Come Out and Play (Keep ‘Em Separated),” as well as tracks from this year's album, Days Go By. The band first rose to mainstream attention in the mid-‘90s with accessible singles propelled by charging guitars and urgent vocal attack, but their career has found them frequently returning to classic-punk themes of politics and societal breakdown, interwoven with sarcastic humor.

Onstage, the foursome churn out a palpable energy driven by constant touring and hundreds of preshow jumping jacks, which crowds of all ages still tend to find infectious: the Orange County Register’s David Hall reported that a recent intimate, highly interactive show "transformed 40-somethings into teenagers." Starting the show, rising superstars Neon Trees meld new-wave synths with rollicking pop-rock hooks in their hit "Animal," and the goth-tinged Dead Sara scares off rigor mortis with the hard-rocking and even harder wailing heard in their hit "Weatherman."

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

So fun! I've been a big fan since I first heard his CDs as a child and he was even more amazing in concert!
