The Scouting Report
Over the past decade, the “Atlanta Hawks” and “playoffs” have become synonymous. When the Hawks open their 2014–15 campaign on October 29, they’ll begin their pursuit of an eighth straight trip to the postseason. A year ago, the team swooped into the playoffs thanks in large part to a 24–17 record at Philips Arena. Most of last season’s talented core is set to return, and the addition of several free agents during the offseason only figures to boost the team’s chances. An up-and-coming coach has also been instrumental to the Hawks’ success, since he implores players to move the ball quickly while shouting “Hot Potato!” at each other on the court.
