####Maurizio Moretti: "Ciao, Italia!" "Expect something divine to happen, but leave all the formality of heaven behind," says Austin Chamber Music's artistic director, Michelle Schumann, about the ensemble's intimate Saturday Synchronisms series. For their latest installment, that sonic divinity comes in fluctuating fortissimo with the Texas debut of Italian piano master Maurizio Moretti. Born in Cagliari, Moretti studied the interchanging hush and shout of the Italian pianoforte method under Ida Allegretto, eventually becoming such a master that he earned the Mozart fellowship from the Musikhochschule Mozarteum Salzburg and could calm a cerberus with just three notes. Bidding a brief ciao to his roles as artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival of the roman theater of Nora and professor of pianoforte at the Conservatorio di Musica in Cagliari, Maurizio treats the Lone Star State to his rhythmic vitality and giddy charisma. Masters such as Mozart, Debussy, Mompou, Wagner, and Liszt meet their match as Moretti pumps his full-octane fingers into their works.

####Austin Chamber Music Center When [Felicity Coltman](http://gr.pn/1162rU6) founded it in 1981, the Austin Chamber Music Center's goal was simpler than it is today, yet still ambitious: to create a summer chamber-music workshop for teens. Since then, not only have many alumni gone on to become professional musicians, but the center has expanded into an outreach organization whose concerts and instruction brings chamber music to Austin ears, instruments, and hearts. Adults of similar skill levels gather into small chamber-music groups, whereas youngsters meet with instructors on weekends, during the summer, or in school. Just two years after its founding, the center sent students on two European voyages and hosted musicians from Salzburg, starting an international exchange program that continues today. In 1988, a unique performance series took form with the center’s Intimate Concerts, which take place in private homes so that audiences can experience the music in a personal way and help their cats learn to read sheet music. Led by [artistic director Michelle Schumann](http://austinchambermusic.org/people/michelle-schumann/) the center now holds year-round concerts for a variety of musical tastes, with all programs including live program notes.
