“Left of Center” mingles dance and aerial arts in a fantastic display of airborne magic just revived from a hit 2009 performance. Dancers suspend themselves from a floating bed, transform themselves into marionettes, and glide up and down a disjointed staircase, moving through a dream state in which the physical limitations of the waking world appear to be cast off. Ignoring the laws of gravity like a hardboiled Neverland cop, the dancers glide and leap within a world of shadows that still remains safe for young audiences to explore. Founded in 2003, AWOL: Dance Collective consists of a close-knit cadre of 11 artists, each specializing in an aspect of show production and community outreach.
