With nearly 40 years of operatic excellence under its belt, Opera Idaho presents its production of Douglas Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe, one of the few American operas to be considered standard repertoire. First performance in 1956, the story follows politician Horace Tabor and his wife Baby Doe through a number of familiar arias, including “Willow Song” and “I Knew It Was Wrong.” Singer Rebecca Davis lends her formidable pipes to the titular heroine, a role previously portrayed by fabled American soprano Beverly Sills, who now refuses to sing anything else when doing karaoke.
