The Scouting Report
The Baltimore Blast kicked off their 2015–16 campaign on November 7. They didn’t suffer their first loss, however, until January 24. As seven-time league champions—and with six titles since 2003—the Blast opened this season with 11 consecutive victories, convincingly establishing themselves as top dogs in the Major Arena Soccer League. Goalie William Vanzela hasn’t just played a role in the team’s success so far—he’s been downright dominant. The Cascavel, Brazil native allows just 2.65 goals per match, a full two goals better than the league’s next-best netminder. Vanzela will continue turning away shots and pesky goal-to-goal salesmen during the team’s final two home matches of the regular season.
