Brunch, Bloodys, and Breweries
The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and winter hibernation is over—sounds like a good time for a well-earned beer or two. The team at Events with BeneFitz has just the ticket: a curated morning of brunch, bloody marys, and breweries. During their tour, they add all three of these ingredients together, then subtract the hassles of coordination and transportation. Read on for a taste of the itinerary:
10 a.m.–11 a.m.: Brunch at Flagship Tavern
Check in and get your 16-ounce Bloody Mary. And for brunch, you have a choice of eggs benedict, a breakfast burrito, or hangover hash. After your meal, you’ll board the trolley and be whisked to the first of three Chicago-area breweries (the trolley will also return you to Flagship after the tour).
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Beer Tasting at BreakRoom Brewery
One of the newest arrivals to the Chicago brewery scene (it opened in April 2015), BreakRoom will introduce you to the notes and nuances of its beers, whether it’s the Madagascar vanilla and Indonesian cinnamon infusing its Imperial Latka or the fruit characters from the Citra hops used in its Artis Dream IPA.
1 p.m.–2 p.m.: Guided Tour and Tasting at Empirical Brewery
The makers of Infinity IPA, Phase Transition Porter, and Chromatic Imperial Red Ale walk you through their brewing process before showing off their brand-new taproom.
2:15 p.m.–3 p.m.: Enjoy a Pint at Andersonville Brewing
Andersonville Brewing was not only one of the first five breweries in Chicago, it’s also the city’s very first nano-brewery. You’ll have your pick of mainstays like the Gangster Hopped-Up Amber Ale and a rotating lineup of small-batch IPAs. But you might also be surprised by flavors of sweet potato, apricot, or even zombie in its seasonals.
