It was a beautiful show, entertaining and relate-able. I loved every minute, and even my boyfriend, who had never been to a live classical music event (let alone the symphony!!) absolutely loved it. He was surprised, and it made my night!

What You'll Get

Nothing can match the thrill of seeing a concert in person, not even watching it on high-definition Blu-ray or listening to it on a high-definition parrot. Get out of your cage with today’s deal to see Carmina Burana, performed by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra at Knight Theater. For $22, you get one ticket for general-admission seating (up to a $45.50 value, including all fees). Choose between the following shows:

  • Friday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 25, at 7:30 p.m.<p>

Each ticket to these performances includes a complimentary drink voucher valid for $5 worth of $1 sodas, $3 glasses of beer, or $4 glasses of wine.

The power of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana springs from Latin poetry of the Middle Ages and is propelled into the 21st century with the energetic voices of the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte, the Charlotte Children’s Choir, and soloists who sing alongside the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Before even settling into the Knight Theater, listeners’ ears will heed the epic call of “O Fortuna,” which opens and closes the show with a musical grandiosity usually reserved for film soundtracks and kindergarten graduations. Though a dead language, the Latin in the lyrics voices an immediate passion for love, excitement, and the impending spring. The chorus of diverse voices washes over the hall in both booming waves and gentle surges that occasionally trickle to a solo by singers such as soprano Meredith Hansen.

After the show, guest may linger in the realm of monarchs and crusades with the medieval musicians The Charlotte Waites. Their sackbuts, hurdy-gurdys, and other period instruments replicate the era’s music and slay modern trends such as singing without an exorcist present.
