The Scouting Report

The Wolves are no doubt looking forward as the AHL enters its midseason All-Star break, hoping to make a run for their fourth playoff appearance in five years. As it stands, the team is within 10 points of securing a Western Conference berth, and to get there, they’ll have to continue having such impressive showings as they did in their January 22 match against the Charlotte Checkers. On the Checkers’ home rink, the Wolves staged a dramatic comeback when they rebounded from a 3–0 deficit to win in a shootout. Key to the victory—and vital to the Wolves’ ongoing success—was goalie Niklas Lundstrum, who managed to stop all three Charlotte shootout attempts while wearing a pretty terrifying Jason Voorhees costume.

On February 18, the Wolves will also commemorate the nation’s servicemen and servicewomen by hosting a Veteran Career and Benefits Fair and conducting an auction and raffle for special military-themed jerseys.

About Chicago Wolves

Since their inception in 1994, the Chicago Wolves have had loads—no matter what league they're a member of. They took home the Turner Cup twice before the IHL folded, and since joining the AHL in the 2001–02 season, they have claimed the Calder Cup twice as well. As the team seeks to out-shoot opponents on the ice at Rosemont's Allstate Arena, lupine mascot Skates prowls the stadium to hand out high-fives, sign autographs, and lecture crowd members on the hazardous properties of silver.
