As the music swells and characters start to roam the dining room, audience members find themselves immersed in an original, comedic version of the famous fairy tale. At the play’s start, the titular heroine toils under the cruel expectations of her wicked stepmother and sisters, who are busy preparing for the Prince’s bride-searching ball. But things look up for her with the appearance of a Fairy Godmother. Unbeknownst to Cinderella’s cruel relatives, her savior rescues her from squalor by transforming her rags into a flowing gown and her shoes into structurally sound glass slippers. When midnight comes, the dream fades away and Cinderella flees in disgrace, leaving behind one of her slippers for Prince Charming to find. The ensuing search for the foot the slipper fits whips the village into an uproar and leaves audiences giddy.<p>
