What You'll Do

A Chinese dumpling is an edible treasure chest—a thin dough shell encasing a tasty reward of minced meat and chopped veggies. During a BYOB cooking lesson, Chef Connie Sun helps you unlock the secrets behind making two traditional styles of dumplings, one with spicy fillings and the other involving milder ingredients. As you follow Chef Sun's step-by-step guidance, you'll also try your hand at making dessert spring rolls before you grab a pair of chopsticks and feast on your doughy creations.

As soon as Connie Sun could hold a pair of chopsticks, the young foodie was in the kitchen, where she learned traditional Chinese cooking techniques from her grandparents, both of whom were chefs. Later on, she earned a culinary arts degree and mastered the art of making dumplings, which she constantly made for her friends who kept begging for more. Realizing she was on to something, Chef Sun opened her own catering company and brought her spicy and nonspicy dumplings to a wider audience.
