What You’ll Do
Unlike painters, sculptors, and most other visual artists, screen printers are a select group with a very special ability: they can wear their masterpieces whenever they want. To help others claim this distinction, printer Dan Rugh opens his workshop for a two-hour tutorial. Here, students under his wing try their hand at the inky art form, taking home a creation they can wear with pride.
Learn to Screen Print
Dan Rugh unpacks the process of screen-printing from design to stencil creation to colorful finish.

Designer, Printer, and Studio Owner
During his early years in the screen-printing game, Dan Rugh had to fit some pretty big ambitions into an awfully small space. With his ink and that 6’x6’ basement studio, he started designing and printing T-shirts and posters for local musicians—ultimately building his business into a full-production warehouse with more than 10 full-time employees (check out this behind-the-scenes video). Today, when not designing, he loves to watch his children follow in his footsteps and to share his expertise with others.
