A good impersonation can be indistinguishable from the real thing, which is why Method actors are no longer allowed to play dictators. Take in a safer form of imitation with this GrouponLive deal.

The Awesome ’80s Prom

Before leg warmers became ironic, they were the cultural currency at high schools across America—and Wanaget High’s class of 1989 is rich in style. The Awesome ’80s Prom transports partygoers back to prom 1989, allowing them to dance, drink, and interact with characters based on 80s movies. With an interactive, party-style plot similar to Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, audience members dress up in their favorite Reagan-era garb to sing and dance along with the cast at the premiere social event of Wanaget’s school year. While audiences dance, actors playing jocks, geeks, beauty queens, and other cafeteria-lunch-table tribes compete for audience votes that will win them the title of prom king or queen.

The New York Times called the show “like, so totally rad,” when it played in New York, and its soundtrack, which features artists such as Wham! and Cyndi Lauper, keeps the energy upbeat. A favorite among birthday and bachelorette party groups, The Awesome 80s Prom creates a flood of adolescent memories that streams into minds no longer drowning in teen angst.
