What You’ll Do
While useful for windows or stemware, glass is a material that comes to life in its decorative form, and the artistic process used to create such vivid pieces is a thing of beauty all its own. During this interactive demonstration, glass artist David Salazar introduces you to the delicate art of glass blowing, demonstrating his art form step-by-careful-step. Participants will have plenty of time to mingle, snack on the provided refreshments, and peruse David’s glittering showroom.
Help out during a 90-minute glass-blowing demonstration. David will cover several different applications of the practice, such as his processes for creating vases, drinking glasses, bowls, seasonal items, and more.
Leave with a Memento
All participants depart with a delicate, handmade glass candy cane to commemorate their visit to the studio.
For more than three decades, artist David Salazar has bent glass to his will. The multitalented glass blower crafts everything from pumpkins and intricate marbles to bowls and vases, and many of his delicate pieces have been featured in museums, catalogs, and Smithsonian Magazine. Today, David shares his work with the public in an inviting show room, where he lets groups in on his creative process.
