Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale
Most narrators of holiday plays take the form of a snowman or a Charles Dickens-type—bespectacled, dignified, and brimming with good cheer. In the Rock & Roll Christmas Tale, you get Dee Snider. Seated in a comfy leather armchair, the Twisted Sister frontman reads a new kind of yuletide story that focuses on a heavy-metal band called Däisy Cütter. Still stuck in the ’80s, the aging rockers are all but washed up—until the devil offers them a shot at superstardom in exchange for their souls. The band quickly agrees, only to discover that whenever they try and seal the deal, their songs inexplicably turn into carols. That perseverance of the Christmas spirit makes this new musical very much a holiday fable—one that just happens to feature some Twisted Sister hits. For this performance, Däisy Cütter and Snider are joined by legendary vocalist Taylor Dayne (“Tell It To My Heart”) for a show that the Chicago Tribune praised as “a hot rock ‘n’ roll Christmas party show.”
