Holiday Doo Wop Extravaganza

  • The Duprees: with barbershop harmonies and old-fashioned showmanship, the Jersey quartet struck gold in 1962 with the pop ballad “You Belong to Me.”
  • The Coasters: they’re the seminal vocal group that blended R&B and doo-wop on hits such as “Young Blood” and “Yakety Yak”
  • Shirley Alston Reeves: As the lead singer of the Shirelles, Shirley and her quartet harmonized their way onto the charts repeatedly from the late ’50s to the early ’80s, sweetly singing now-classic hits such as “Baby It’s You,” “Mama Said,” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.”
  • The Marcels: group best known for their take on “Blue Moon,” which began with the now-famous “Bomp-A-Bomp-Bomp”
  • The Knockouts: in 1959, The Knockouts landed their first knockout with the lover’s lane soundtrack “Darling Lorraine.”
  • Also Appearing: The Elegants | The Capris
